Anouk. Born on 8 april 1975. She changed from an according to her mother sweet child into a more than wild child. At the age of fourteen she discovered 'life' and tried everything new out. She ended up in a children's home and ran away from it and ended up in another one. One of the counsellors there was musician, and heard her singing. He took her with him on music lessons. Dennis Weimar asked her to perform in the cafe: DE PATER in The Hague. Although she was scared, she did it and loved it. She became background singer in a soulrythm band, but grew tired of it after two years. In 1994 she got accepted, with hardly knowledge of the theory behind the music, in the Conservatorium, but she left it shortly after her appearance, because it was much too annoying and there was a big difference between her and the other students. She went on singing, got married in 1995. Her manager and husband at the time (she got deforced) invited Barry Hay (From the Golden Earring) to listen to her. This happened at Zeeheldenkwartier Festival 1996 in The Hague, and he loved it so much that he jumped on stage to sing along with her. He offered to write some material for her. It finally resulted in Mood Indigo , a song written by Barry Hay, which reached number 10 in Holland in November 1996. She became the supporting act of the Golden Earring in 1996. br>

Her first album: Together Alone

The repertoire of her Band grew more and more alternative (she herself loves blues more, and my opinion is that she has got an excellent and full blues-voice, but who am I to say that...). The band turned into a good rough rockband with dancable funky music elements. Semptember the 5th it happened: She released a single called Nobody's Wife with a black and white videoclip. The American version now is in color and very different. Take a look. She has (co)written this song herself! Made it in several countries throughout Europe to the number one spot! She also doesn't do any covers at all, which is quit rare these days...This CD Together Alone is written by Anouk Teeuwe and Bart van Veen, who isn't in the music scene at all. A good friend of Anouk wrote 'Sacrifice' wich is a song with only the voice of Anouk and a acoustic guitar.

Yes yes, it is true, she is one of the front-artists at the Woodstock revival.
In the sixties people like Jimi Hendrix and Joe Cocker made fame there, but now, this summer, bands as Metallica, Skunk Anansie, Iggy Pop, Zucchero and of course Anouk, will play there, and some of the artists from the 60's will play also. This is all again with the motto: Make love not war...
